News from GGS Lustheider Straße Cologne

On March 9, the FtK group attended the women’s Bundesliga match between 1. FC Köln and FC Bayern München. The children experienced an atmospheric game in the best weather at the soccer temple in Cologne-Müngersdorf. Even though the game ended in a clear 0:3 defeat for the visitors from Bavaria, the pupils were able to get a taste of the stadium atmosphere, get photos and autographs and spend a great and exciting afternoon.

News from the school at Heidenberger Teich

At the beginning of November, at our usual training time, we went on a special excursion: together we went from the school to the library. A highlight was waiting for us there – professional goalkeeper Thomas Dähne! In the previous lesson, the children had prepared exciting questions that they could now ask the soccer star. He answered every question with great enthusiasm and then read aloud from a gripping soccer book. But Thomas Dähne wasn’t the only one to have his say: three children bravely presented their favorite books and contributed their love of reading. At the end there were autographs and beaming faces – a successful mix of sport and reading pleasure! At 4 p.m. we returned to school inspired and happy.

Another highlight for the FTK children took place on March 29. They took part in a special excursion: they accompanied the Holstein Kiel and Werder Bremen teams to the stadium as run-in children. After changing into their jerseys at school, they took the bus to the stadium together. Once at the stadium, they lined up, ran in with the players and then watched the match from the stands. An absolute highlight for the children!

News from the school An der Glinder Au

On February 10, the FtK children went on a trip to the NDR studio. The children learned about the historical development of the media landscape in Hamburg from NDR technician Michael Imme and were able to get to know “professions with media” in the NDR studio. At the same time, they also got to know the technical features of the studio up close and saw the control center of the studio from the inside, which can be compared to a spaceship.

News from the Schalker Regenbogenschule

A very special event took place in a canteen kitchen at the VELTINS-Arena on December 2. Together with Schalke striker Bryan Lasme, the FtK children from the Regenbogenschule cut out countless figures from light and dark shortcrust pastry. The children’s faces spoke volumes and, together with Bryan Lasme, they were highly concentrated and very hard at work. The cookie baking campaign produced around 500 small bags, which Schalke hilft! will be distributing at various events in the coming weeks until Christmas. Photo credit: Fotodesign Karsten Rabas

On May 27, the children set off on the “Mythos Tour” together with their coaches and teachers. The plan was to get to know the district of Gelsenkirchen, Schalke and the history of the club better. Pupils from the Friedrich Grillo School and the Rainbow School embarked on the Mythos Tour. It was an exciting experience where everyone learned a lot about the fascinating history and legends of the region. The children were delighted with the places they visited. It was a great experience that was both educational and entertaining!

News from Frauenstraße elementary school

An evening we won’t soon forget! On February 7, our “Fußball trifft Kultur” group attended the live match between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Jahn Regensburg at Sportpark Ronhof – the very first visit to the stadium for many of the children! Cheering together, cheering and feeling the unique atmosphere – everyone was thrilled. A win for Fürth, chips, bratwurst sandwiches and beaming faces despite the cold made the evening perfect! 16 kids, an unforgettable experience and a lot of soccer love.

News from the Erich Kästner School

At the end of February, the FtK children from the Erich Kästner School went on an exciting tour of the stadium! They went from the schoolyard to the subway, then to the Eintracht Museum. There they marveled at trophies, played table football and enjoyed a guided tour of the stadium! The backstage highlights were without question the press room, the changing rooms and the substitution areas right on the edge of the pitch. The enthusiasm was huge across the board and the experience was unforgettable for FtKers of all ages.
